The leading online gaming firm is now able to offer sports betting services to French players following an agreement with local licensed operator.
Unibet, a Malta-based online gaming operator has signed an agreement with France Pari. This will offer sportsbetting services to French customers following the controlled opening of the market last week.
Unibet stated that the ‘very challenging’ short-term provisions of the French online market meant that they took the decision to open with a partner. They chose France Pari as it is a licensed operator under the new domestic regulations.
“The terms and conditions for the controlled opening of the French online market are very challenging in the short-term but can long-term create good opportunities,” said a statement from Unibet.
“To allow as much flexibility as possible and not affect Unibet’s other business, the group has chosen to address the controlled opening initially through partnerships.”
In addition to this Unibet also announced that it has also signed signed a letter of intent with Zeturf regarding horseracing pool liquidity and expected poker and French races. These should be available on Unibet by the end of the third quarter:
“We are very happy to announce that, although we have not yet been granted a French license, we can still provide our customers with a sportsbetting product.” said Petter Nylander, Chief Executive Officer for Unibet.”
Although laws may have changed, there are still plenty of ways in which to carry n with your gaming habits. Never fear!
